Terms of service

PermitGranted (“PermitGranted”, “we”, “us”) operates an online service that reads public property records and turns a renovation or development project into code-checked plans, permit packets, and, where supported, electronically filed permit applications. By using the service you agree to these terms.

1. Who can use the service

You must be at least 18 and either the property owner, the property owner’s authorised agent, or a licensed contractor acting on the owner’s behalf. You confirm your authority when you sign our authorisation form on a per-project basis. We will not file an application without that authorisation.

2. What we do, and what we do not

We generate drawings, code-compliance checks and filing packets for residential and small commercial projects. We are not architects, engineers, attorneys or inspectors. Where your state requires an architect’s or engineer’s seal, we tell you that a seal is required and you are responsible for engaging the professional who provides it. Our code checks reflect the rules we have ingested for your jurisdiction at the time you run the check: a strong filter, not a guarantee that any specific official will approve your application.

3. Accounts and access

We use magic-link sign-in, so there are no passwords. You are responsible for the email inbox tied to your account. Sessions expire after a period of inactivity. You can revoke sessions or delete your account at any time from your dashboard or by emailing us.

4. Pricing, payments and refunds

Current pricing is shown on the pricing page and on the page for whatever you are buying. Payments are processed by Stripe and we do not store card details.

The deposit that starts an ADU project is refundable on request until we assign a specialist to your lot or produce your document set, and is credited in full toward your permitting package after that. Other refunds are handled case by case. See the refund policy for how we approach them. Town fees are paid to the building department and we cannot refund those.

5. Your content

Photos, addresses, project descriptions and other information you provide remain yours. You grant us a limited licence to use that content to deliver the service: generate plans, run code checks, assemble packets, and submit applications you authorise. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train third-party models. We share what is necessary with payment processors, email providers and the jurisdictions to which you authorise a filing. 6. Acceptable use

You agree not to submit false statements on a permit application, reverse-engineer or resell the service, use the service to spam, harass or impersonate any building department, or upload material you do not have the right to upload.

7. Service availability

We aim to keep the service available continuously but make no specific uptime guarantee at this stage. We will give reasonable notice for planned maintenance that affects active filings.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that every code check is complete or that every jurisdiction will accept every application.

9. Limitation of liability

Our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when our service changes. Material changes will be announced by email to active users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hudson County, New Jersey.
